GRATEFUL FOR THE PAST...MOVING FORWARD!

Hey Everyone!

It's been a while since I've blogged, but I always like keeping you up on all that has been happening. Hopefully, you have been enjoying yourself and keeping busy! This has been a very busy year for me and all who support me.

JUNE REVIEW

June was alot of fun and excitement -

I had the opportunity to do a television interview - on The Linda Singh Show with DJ Big Cal.  I sang both my my songs DESTINY and DO IT - it was a great experience.  Below are pictures of that day.

I performed in the Bronx at River Bay Corp/Co-Op City for the Caribbean American Celebration.  It was alot of fun - I've posted my performance for you to enjoy.

Right After this performance - I had to prepare to shoot my video Destiny - What a Blast! My Manager Mz. J Co-Directed my video along with the Directors of Photography The Mendes Brothers and my producers, Chatu, Bill White and my Engineer Kooly Chat played Body Guards in the video - I want to thank everyone who came out to help make my video successful - here is my video  "DO IT"and pics for you to  enjoy.  The ironic thing about the date of me shooting this video, it was the weekend anniversary of the passing of Michael Jackson - I dedicate this video shoot to Michael Jackson's musical legacy! xo

July Review

I had the opportunity to join Rain Torae on her open mic night Soul 4Real Tuesdays at The Shrine in Harlem - I had so much fun - I got to sing I Still Believe by Brenda K Starr - below is a post of that performance.

August Review

August - I forgot to add, that I was interviewed by JUST GIMMIE THE MIC hosted by Debra CoCo Slater, it was so much fun - it was an internet radio show done live, with me singing being interviewed with a "live" DJ - it was a surprise and so much fun - my and my manager ate West Indian Food right after - Other than that it was just me in rehearsal working on new songs, and beginning my new life in NYC - I moved and it's real important that artists have their freedom to become who they are going to become, I work hard and now I have my independence.  Ofcourse I have a long way to go, but I am proud of what I have accomplished and look forward to more... and lastly everyone - my music is still available on cd baby.com, itunes.com amazon.com -

Thank you for your support and look forward to more blogs coming at ya!

YOMIKA TO THE 3RD POWER!

Hey Everybody! Welcome to my blog TO THE 3RD POWER. I will reach out to my support and let them know what's been going on! Wow! It's hard to believe that next week - my single DO IT will be on sale at all major digital outlets!  Totally hoping you support! This is just the beginning - we have alot of good things in store for you!

DO IT CD COVER

JANUARY 2012 - We came into a new year after alot of hard work - completing my music in the studio and staying focused on my goals.  I came back to rehearsal after the holidays a little sluggish and it took alot for me to get back up on my game..I'm still not right where I want to be, but I'm working on it.  My manager Mz. J, ran my paces, stretching, yoga, breathing, cardio, vocal warm ups and then working on my songs.  Now that everything is recorded I can focus on my "live" shows.  We had to mix the music, which is another long process, but I wanted to be there and sit through it all.  I want to be a part of the whole process from writing to singing to producing, and post production.

FEBRUARY 2012 - My Birthday Month - just another day but an important day - as we grow, we become wiser, and I pray that is happening to me. LOL! The week after my birthday we lost a Legend, Ms. Whitney Houston - it was a real shocking event, no one expected it - she looked so healthy and pretty and just finished filming the movie "SPARKLE".  I was lucky to have a performance for Maria Davis at the Shrine in Harlem and was able to dedicate my performance to Ms. Whitney Houston.  This was a hard show, I was the last newcomer to perform.  But it went well.  Before I got there - I had a great performance at a Shelter for Domestic Violence.  I performed 4 songs - it was hard but it got me ready for the next show.  I was so comfortable, and feel like I made a difference in the lives of the residents there and I was in such a good place  I think we made each other feel good.

.
MARCH 2012 - I have been in New York City for 6 years and in all those six years the only people I really socialized with from the Bahamas like myself have been my family.  But I was fortunate to meet with the Consulate General of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas in Manhattan near the United Nations.  It was a nice meeting, just connecting with my people and looking forward to doing events with them and creating events to organize other youth and young adults from the Bahamas living in New York.  It was really good to hear a Bahamian Accent! :) Alot of them! Everyone was very nice.  I was honored to be there.
YOMIKA & DR. RHONDA CHIPMAN-JOHNSON - CONSULATE GENERAL OF THE COMMONWEALTH OF THE BAHAMAS @ THE BAHAMAS HOUSE IN NYC.

I performed at a new lounge in Harlem Epiphanys for an R&B Spoken Word Event, it was their first event and I stepped up to the mic and put it down..it went really really well.
AFTER MY PERFORMANCE AT EPIPHANY'S - ME AND MY MANAGER MZ. J

So here we are back to future! My new single DO IT! - The release date was March 31st 2012, but we are going to release at the top of the week in April.  DO IT, was written by me, and backgrounds were arranged by myself and sang by Taylor B. and myself.  The music was produced by Chatu a fabulous upcoming producer, who was born in Africa, raised in Italy and now living in New York City, his upbringing lends a special style and sound to the music.  DO IT was recorded at KING HEART BEAT STUDIOS located in Brooklyn - Engineered and Mixed by Kooly Chat - Da Bigga Boss aka Jose' Dixon - who is a legend himself and will be remixing DO IT and has laid down some chat and lyrics on one of my songs DRAWN TO YOU - which will be the next uptempo release on my EP - "THE LONG WAY HOME".

DO IT will be available this week - for down load on most digital media outlets i.e.:  cdbaby.com, itunes.com, amazon.com, facebook.com, myspace.com, reverbnation.com and many more...so yes again! I am  asking for your support - let the folks know - that Freeport represents with home grown talent!, and that's me - Bahamas is in my blood and all my experiences have made me who I am today!  Thanks Ya'll! Much Love <3 - look out for my music and soon my VIDEO! YAY!
